POSITION SUMMARY:
- Intentional Life Media/Family Life Radio has a great opportunity for an Afternoon Drive Team. (Solo talent may also apply.) The Afternoon Show will encourage and interact with listeners while communicating ILM’s mission to affirm faith, provide hope, and encourage growth in Christ. The Afternoon Show will develop and present an engaging weekday Afternoon program; produce digital content and engage on social media; and make personal appearances to promote the program and the ministry. It is preferred that the team be in Tucson; remote options are available.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Develops and presents a daily, five-hour, listener-focused, Christ-centered Afternoon program that effectively communicates a personal relationship with Christ within the context of ILM’s Statement of Faith and presents a biblical worldview in the language of our target audience
- Speaks with a voice that connects well with our target audience; demonstrates the ability to create memorable moments that enable the listener to become emotionally attached to the on-air product; and connects with what’s “top of mind” for our target audience. Authentic storytelling is in your DNA.
- One (or Both) host(s) demonstrates the ability to run the board and effectively interact with the technical environment, including pre-show prep of recorded elements (e.g., spots, bits, and promos), and creates and presents digital content, including podcasts, video messaging, and social media interactions
- Must be willing and able to travel and make public appearances, which may occasionally include overnight and weekend travel/voice tracks weekend programs
- Assists with other announcer functions, including, but not limited to, working on-air shifts during ILM’s Fundraising Drives (may occasionally include weekends)
- Builds relationships with the listener on the air and on digital platforms by using consistent, interactive feedback from listeners
- Maintains 100% compliance with all legal, regulatory, and financial requirements, including ensuring that the on-air product complies with all applicable FCC regulations
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcasting/related field, or equivalent experience
- 5 years of radio station (or network) hosting of music shift, or equivalent experience
- Three (3) to five (5) years of on-air experience, preferably in a major market, or similar experience in media
- Experience with audio editing software such as Adobe Audition and VoxPro
- Basic experience with the web and social media platforms
- General knowledge and experience with automation systems (i.e., NexGen, Zetta)
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Ability to communicate a Christian worldview in the target audience’s language
- Must consistently and effectively connect with the listener
- Ability to professionally represent ILM/Family Life Radio both on-air and in person; requires maturity, poise, and professionalism, including a professional appearance
- Ability to quickly (and accurately) record, edit, and air listener interactions and commentary
- Ability to work within an on-air team and in the community, seeing each campaign or assignment through
- Strong knowledge of FCC rules and regulations governing radio broadcasting
- Proven to be a creative, “out-of-the-box” thinker
- Demonstrates a strong ability to identify what is “top of mind” for our target audience
- Demonstrates the ability to interact with the station or network’s technical environment
- Demonstrate the ability to interact on the digital platform, including audio and video outlets
- Demonstrate the ability to communicate a biblical worldview to our target audience.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and objectives
